Candied Pecans

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

These candied pecans are the perfect sweet and crunchy treat, made with brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and a touch of salt. Quick and easy to prepare, they’re ideal as a snack, salad topping, or gift-worthy delight.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

    1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
    2. In a small skillet or saucepan, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, vanilla extract, and water. Stir to combine and heat over medium heat until the mixture starts to bubble.
    3. Stir in the pecans, ensuring they are evenly coated with the bubbling mixture.
    4. Reduce the heat to low and stir continuously for 3–5 minutes, or until the sugar mixture thickens and clings to the pecans. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
    5. Spread the pecans in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a fork to separate them while they cool.
    6. Allow the pecans to cool completely at room temperature. The coating will harden as they cool.
    7. Enjoy as a snack, salad topping, or dessert garnish! Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Notes

  • Keep a close eye on the sugar mixture as it thickens. Overcooking can cause it to burn, giving the pecans a bitter taste.
  • Once the pecans are coated and removed from heat, spread them out immediately on the baking sheet to prevent clumping.
  • For the best flavor and texture, use fresh pecans. Stale nuts may result in a less enjoyable snack.
